Advanced Practical Pistol

COST: FREE – $2.00 details below.

See Calendar for Dates / Times

The Medford Rifle and Pistol Club’s popular Thursday night firearms practice…

This practice is structured for the intermediate or advanced shooter who is seeking to hone his/her competitive/defensive shooting skills. Several of the Rogue Valley’s top competitive shooters volunteer their time and expertise as Instructors and Range Officers for this weekly practice. This training is a golden opportunity to learn a few competition shooting tips from the Valley’s top guns.

This is an ideal training for shooters seeking to participate in one of MRPC’s monthly competitions: IDPA/USPSA/Multi-Gun/Speed Steel. Because this training incorporates many of the IDPA’s stages, ie… carjacking, home invasion, restaurant and street scenarios, the Thursday night practice is essential for the concealed firearms carrier seeking advanced defensive firearms skills.

During the dry weather months, the Thursday night practice is a combination practice of USPSA/IDPA with occasional Multi-Gun, tactical rifle/shotgun activities thrown in. Throughout the Spring/Summer months, practice is held at the RVSSA Reserve/Competition range, located at the back gate of the Jackson County Sports Park Shooting Complex in White City, Oregon. During Winter months beginning around mid-Fall, the training moves to the MRPC indoor range. There it reverts to a pistols only practice.

Materials needed for the training:

  • An outside the waist-band holster and magazine carrier
  • A firearm and at least 3 magazines or speed loaders
  • Eye and hearing protection
  • 50 rounds (minimum) of ammunition for each session

FEE STRUCTURE:

RVSSA COMPETITION / POLICE RANGE

During the sunny months practice is held outside at the Sportsman’s Park at the back range.

  • All shooters pay a $1.00 RVSSA “user fee” when the Practical Pistol Practice is held outdoors at the RVSSA Reserve Range.
  • Non-MRPC members are allowed to join the Practical Pistol Practice twice, before being required to join the Medford Rifle and Pistol Club.
MRPC INDOOR RANGE

During the rainy months practice moves to the MRPC Indoor Range.

  • FREE to MRPC members
  • $2.00 guest fee for non-members
  • Non-MRPC members are allowed to join the Practical Pistol Practice twice, before being required to join the Medford Rifle and Pistol Club.

All shooters are required to sign a MRPC Liability wavier.

All participants are required to sign the weekly training roster and pay their fee prior to joining the practice.
